Our Mission
Badges of Courage Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded to provide financial assistance to low income women who have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer and those who are in treatment. Often, these women cannot work during their lengthy treatment and without the possibility of income, cannot afford their basic living expenses. Our goal is to give women tranquility and hope when faced with this disease so that they may concentrate on healing.

When you are diagnosed with cancer, there are many things that run through your mind. One of my concerns, was paying for treatment. What I didn’t realize at first, was that I may not be able to work at my usual level. This made paying typical bills, in addition to medical bills, a daunting prospect. Thankfully, Badges of Courage stepped in and helped me through my hardest time. Not only did they fund raise and help me pay a month of bills, they listened to my concerns and provided comfort and experience where I had none. There are a lot of good foundations doing good work and I know we’d all like a cure, or at least a non-invasive way to treat this disease, but very few of them think about the people who are not only going through some horrific treatment, but trying to figure out a way to pay the bills, and keep their child fed. The stress of that, and the consequences are worse than the disease. If I had a ton of money it would definitely go to Badges of Courage. It does good things. ♥
